Southwest Mississippi Planning and Development District
(SWMPDD) serves as the Designated Agent for child care services administered
by
the Office
for
Children and
Youth.
These
programs
include
Child Care and Development Block Grant, Transitional Child Care, and Temporary
Assistance for Needy Families Child Care. These child care services assist
the parents in obtaining and maintaining employment and continuing education
and job training activities. Also, the program is designed to enhance the
capability of child care providers to provide improved child care and educational
programs.
To qualify for child care assistance through the Child Care Certificate
Program for full-time and part-time child care, the parent(s)/guardian(s)
must meet
one or more of the following criteria:
- Working at least 25 hours per week;
- Enrolled full-time in a high school or a full-time GED program;
- Unpaid work hours required to complete course work for the school
curriculum and/or work study may be counted towards the work requirement
of the parent(s).
